Welcome baby B!

Newborn baby portraits just make me smile. First time parents learning to be mommy and daddy warm my heart. Throw in a new momma I have know since birth and the sweetest little boy ever and I am a super happy photographer.

This sweet little guy slept through most of his session. We shot all these portraits at home making it so easy for the new parents. No worrying about forgetting anything or getting out the door on time! You have everything you need and you don’t have to go anywhere!

Congratulation Amy and Noah!

Are you thinking about booking a newborn session? Ideally we suggest scheduling the session before the baby is here – we put your due date on our calendar and then let us know when the baby arrives and we get a firm date on the books. Taking care of it beforehand means you are more likely not to get overwhelmed and miss an opportunity to document the first days of your baby’s life and their tiny little newborn features! I love baby toes! Are you ready to book? Just click here!

Now, on to the baby!

Lauren – Warren High School Class of 2016

My style of senior portraits tends to speak to the quiet ones, the artists, the book lovers, the ones with the eyes that look wise beyond their years. Meet Lauren.

I met Lauren several years ago at a friends senior portrait session. Her Mama remembered me and contacted me when she was looking for a wedding photographer for herself and a senior portrait photographer for her daughter Lauren. Needless to say it was a busy and exciting year this family!

Lauren’s hair and make-up was done at the studio by the amazing Tonya Winebrenner. Lauren and I dodged raindrops during her session, but you’d never be able to tell it looking at these soulful images. We went from the Wetlands at Williamstown to Harmar Village and back to the studio in downtown Marietta, Ohio when the weather turned stormy.

She is as sweet and smart as she is gorgeous!

Judah Class of 2016 Senior Portraits

For senior portraits I tend to attract the home-schoolers, the rockers, the poets, the artists and it appears, the blacksmiths. Enter Judah. If I had to describe him in one sentence, I couldn’t. I would just show them this photo:

Judah in his head

Judah and I have been orbiting around one another’s lives now for almost five years. For the record, I think he has been roughly this size and has had this much facial hair since the first time I encountered him. I am pretty certain that our portrait session was the first time we have hung out one on one. I have been missing out.

Judah is funny, intelligent, driven and really contradicts any stories you have heard about teens these days….for part of our session his sister-cousin-best friend and fellow badass, Lydia, tagged along, held the reflector and corroborated some of the more ridiculous stories that Judah told. Those two have an unmistakable bond – the kind that only comes with years of friendship, adventures and conversations. It would be hard to tell the story of Judah without mentioning Lydia.

Let’s get to the good stuff.

Country Girl Maternity {Marietta, Ohio Maternity Photography}

She is a country girl – from her curls to her bare feet. She is happiest on that piece of land she calls home, surrounded by cats, dogs, chickens and family. She is about to add to that family and pass on those country roots to a very lucky little boy. We enjoyed an outdoor maternity portrait session making good use of the landscape and architecture around us. I have a thing for old barns.

Want to see the cute little guy that popped out? Check out this post!

Lil’ Bear {Marietta, Ohio Baby Photography}

After five long months of waiting I finally got to meet this sweet little boy and photograph him. He has sparkly blue eyes, a dimple in his chin like his Mama and the sunniest disposition. He was happy to be the center of attention and full of smiles when his mama tickled him.  Five months is a fun age, they are generally pretty smiley, not very mobile, but can be propped and hold their heads ups while on their tummies. I love that Mama came prepared to be photographed as well, most babies this age are still very attached to Mama and being held is their most natural state!  Thanks for stopping by Lil’ Bear! You can check out Mama’s maternity session here!

Book Lover Senior Portrait Session

Edain’s senior portrait session was a dream shoot. She had a natural ability to relax into a pose and was game for anything! She was a book lover, a musician and so freaking smart! She had an easy laugh, beautiful eyes and super sweet spirit.

It was a really hot day and we were in an old building without much airflow, but she was up for it! We brought in Valerie Crabtree to do hair and make-up. Edain still wanted to look like herself but slightly more glammed up. We loved her outfit choices because she really mixed it with different textures, necklines and styles.

It is almost time for Edain to graduate so we wanted to give her a little shout out! What type of images would you want us to create for you if you could have your dream  portrait session?

Music is Her Religion – Marietta Teen Portrait Session

How did this happen? Wasn’t she 12 just yesterday? When did she become a 16 year old musician that plays 2 AM gigs at fracking protests? Folks, meet Lydia.

We had the good luck of having Lydia in the Marietta, Ohio studio this week for portraits. We had the even better luck of being serenaded by her while we were photographing her. I am going to let you in on a little secret, you have not heard Bon Jovi’s Dead or Alive until you have listened to Lydia bust out her version.

Do you have a teen or a high school senior that is a musician? Maybe it’s you that is the musician! We love photographing musicians. Musicians love being photographed by us!  Andi has years of experience photographing musicians, working stages and hanging out in dark bars! Is it time for promo photos? Maybe it’s time to honor yourself or favorite musician by scheduling a rock and roll portrait session. Come prepared with a short set list and your favorite instrument. We’ll provide the moody light and interesting angles. The rest? Well that’s just magic!

Bucket List : Volkswagen Bus Session

Interesting Andi fact, I once spent part of a summer living in a 1966 Volkswagen Bus. I was on summer break from Ohio University and worked for one of my besties Denise doing hair wraps on Hilton Head Island. I stayed between Savannah and Hilton Head Island in a little town called Bluffton, SC. It was an adorable campground with the most beautiful roaming peacocks and a ton of pecan trees. More about the peacocks later.

I had been happily occupying a tent for about three weeks when Das Bus (pronounced Dahs Boose)  became available. I was grateful to move into more luxurious digs. Living in Das Bus definitely had it’s advantages over a tent – doors that locked, no rain leaking in, a solid floor and a comfy bed. I can still smell that distinctive scent of old Volkswagen mixed with “incense”. It felt safe and it was always warm from having been parked in the sun all day. Surprisingly, there were a few disadvantages too.

Example: In addition to being my boudoir, Das Bus was also a primary source of transportation for my employer’s husband. To paint a clearer picture, he was a passive-aggressive, feminist fearing, bearded hippie. This particular hippie had little regard for my bedtime. I would meander about with no particular place to be until he would VWBUSeventually show up. Once he would finally return to the campground with my bedroom, I would gratefully slip inside. I instantly felt cozy and secure in my little tin can oasis where I would read or journal. I would drift off into a blissful slumber and only occasionally be jolted awake by the screams of the peacocks. Like I said, it was mixed bag.

Having briefly lived in a Das Bus has done a few things for me. First and foremost, hippie street cred. I never went on tour, but I did live in a Bus.  Second, I notice when a Bus has a split windshield. Split windshields means it was built before 1967.  Lastly, I feel nostalgic and inspired to do a Volkswagen Bus shoot at some point. It is the first portrait session to make my bucket list.

Volkswagen Buses are hard to come by. Buses that run and are in good shape are even harder to come by…but I might have a lead on one. And my bucket list session might be happening!

I picture a relaxed family portrait session, or a fun senior portrait session with lots of bright and colors and laughter using the Bus interiors and exteriors as atmosphere. I imagine a family snuggled in the bed, reading, telling stories and rough housing. For seniors I could see someone curled up with a pile of books or a journal and a guitar with fun boho inspired hair and make-up.

What would you do with images from a shoot like this? Well anything you wanted of course! Amazing holiday cards with the words Peace maybe? I think it would fun to decorate a family room with gallery wraps from a bus session. I picture lots of bright large canvas gallery wraps grouped together or a custom designed album to commemorate the experience.

Are you a family that loves to travel of just has a thing for all things 60’s? Do you love being cozy together and feel inspired by the iconic feel and hippie values that a Volkswagen Bus shoot would vibe? Let me know and if this session happens I will give you first dibs on a spot.

I have been inspired by a couple of my favorite photographers that have already done a Bus shoot, Tara Whitney and Barb Uil. Check them out for some amazing inspiration if you are a photographer! You will see their work on this mood board I put together on Pinterest!

Thank goodness spring has finally sprung! Winter was no joke this year and we think it is time to celebrate with some indoor spring mini portrait sessions! We know that Mother Nature isn’t done messing with us  yet, so we created a colorful kid friendly set indoor set.

Our limited edition spring set features bright colors, fresh flowers, plenty of make believe and a quilt fort! Your favorite pumpkin-wumpkin-sugarloaf-lumpkin can color, read or host a tea party while we take some adorable portraits. We suggest gathering a couple of your kiddos favorite books and stuffed animals so they have familiar guests with them at their photo shoot. Do you have some fun Matilda Jane style clothes you have been dying to feature in a portrait session? This is the perfect session for that!

Spring 2015 Portrait Session

We have just a handful of sessions available for this fun set and at $99 these sessions will go super fast! Dates for this set are April 8th through the 14th.

Your $99 session fee includes a 20 minute session and an 8 x 10 print of your choice. The first three people to book this session will have their 8 x 10 print upgraded to a canvas gallery wrap! Canvas gallery wraps are amazing because they are delivered ready to hang and are so durable! I actually spilled some wine on one last week and didn’t notice it for a couple days and it wiped right off!

Here are some test shots we did over the weekend featuring the lovely Julia. Special thanks goes to Rachel Hyde for helping me style the set and for producing such delightful children! I am certain we will tweak the set a bit before you arrive, but you get the idea!
