What is more amazing and beautiful than a newborn? Maybe how fast they change!

Preserve your infants first days of life with a special newborn sitting. We know that the first week or two with a new little one in the house can go by in a blur. We also know that getting out of the house with a new baby and a tired mommy is not easy. We believe that the quality of portrait you receive is directly proportional to your ability to relax and enjoy the experience. People relax most in their homes.

"The first time mom of a seven day old child I was determined to have her pictures taken. Exhausted and a bit overwhelmed I... contact(ed) Roberts Family Photography - they made the whole process a breeze! They came to me, taking the pictures from the comfort of my own home and without the typical rigid schedules and time frames one so often encounters. No hurry, no rush. Just a relaxed photo session that ultimately produced beautiful portraits that I will always cherish."

Babies don’t care that you have a portrait scheduled for between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM, especially if they are tired, hungry, uncomfortable, cold, scared, hate their carseat...you get the picture. That’s why we come to you. We are not on a strict time schedule. There is time to calm the baby down. Time to relax. Time to feed and change and change again. We don’t rush you. No one is waiting impatiently in line for you to get done. No one is asking you to reschedule for a time when the baby is in a better mood. We’ll just relax and wait for that perfect moment. And no...we don't care what the house looks like!

Keep these guidelines in mind when scheduling newborn portraits:

  • Don't be in a hurry, expect the portrait session take up to two hours
  • Black and white is a perfect choice for newborn portraits
  • Choose plain, simple, clothing when dressing baby for their portrait session, fussy clothing distracts from your beautiful baby’s tiny features. White onesies, cloth diapers, and no clothes at all look best!
  • Schedule your newborn portraits as soon after the baby is born as possible, we suggest between 7 and 14 days old
  • Don't worry about waiting to get the baby on a schedule, they are only alert a couple hours out of the day! Newborn portraits are the easiest photos you'll ever have taken!
  • Babies aren't used to the air on their skin, get them used to it for a couple days ahead of time by holding them wearing just a diaper next to your bare skin as much as possible.
