Mama Love {Marietta Maternity Session}

I love a good maternity session. I love it even more when the subject is someone who is near and dear to my heart and part of my crew. Gorgeous Abigail is one of my regular make-artists over at Hot Tomato Portraits and a daily presence in my world. To say that we are excited about the arrival of the newest member of our family would be a massive understatement. We are downright giddy with anticipation! Her maternity session was fun and sweet – just like her. Her fella Seth is pretty awesome too. Take a look for yourself.

Maternity sessions are best scheduled for the end of the 7th month through the 8th month.  We love to time it for that sweet spot where you look very pregnant but can still move around comfortably (mostly). Do you need more information? Are you ready to book with us? Just fill out this form and someone will get right back to you!

Welcome Bodhi Fox – Parkersburg, WV, Newborn Portrait Session

For some dang reason it has taken me forever to post this  session – this little guy is coming up on a year old now – let’s take a little walk down memory land.

Many people that know me through my other brand, Hot Tomato Pin-Up Academy,  don’t know I got my start as a baby photographer.  With this family portrait session, I took a little trip back to my roots, newborns and family in their home.  Their home happens to be an amazing converted school bus.

There are two adults, four kiddos and a couple of pets living in this hand crafted space. I have been fascinated by their journey and am an avid follower of Kristen’s instagram account. She is quite the photographer, catching some of the most authentic shots of her babies with her phone and sharing them with her friends. When she started the process of remodeling the bus I messaged her and told her I wanted to photograph her in that space. And when I learned that baby Bodhi had been born on the bus, I knew I wanted to come photograph them as their hearts grew to accommodate this new little being.

What I loved most about moving through the interior of this tiny home was realizing how they, as a family, really had to consider what was most important to them. There is no room for excess or frivolous indulgences with six humans living full time on a school bus. Pairing things down appears to create focus – I haven’t had a specific conversation with Kristen about the why’s, but if you talk to her long enough, it will come up in conversation. They simply wanted more time together to experience things as a family. In shifting life over to bus living,  they prioritized playtime, cozy, comfy sleeping areas and the ability to move around the country and explore and learn unencumbered by a mortgage.

Please take a moment to view the short video I made of their images. I have left a few of my favorite portraits below the video as well.

Simple, Short and Sweet Mini Portrait Session in Marietta, Ohio

This is a family that is easy to love. They are full of laughs and wit. Mama is so funny and Dad, well that fella is just full of surprises! They make some pretty cute kids too. And that little red headed baby girl has been the icing on top for this family! She is so sweet and full of smiles.  These folks genuinely like one another and you can see it in these portraits.

We did a quick 20 minute mini session in Sacra Via Park a couple of weeks ago. It was simple, it was fast and they ended up with so many images they loved!

Sometimes portraits can seem like such a hassle! If you want the relief of knowing that portraits are handled for the year, that your mom can now quit nagging you for portrait, and that you can order some hella cute Christmas cards without rushing around to try and schedule a portrait session during the busiest part of portrait season then you need to push the EASY button below!

Are you looking for something less simple? A little more involved? We have that too! Check out our  Adventure Sessions!

Mini Sessions are $249 through end of July (you don’t have to shoot in July) and include a $200 product credit.

We will proof off of 5×7 prints so you can really see what you are getting and even take portraits home with you the day of your proofing! What does a $200 product credit get you? It could be 4 – 8×10’s OR 1 8×10, 2 5×7’s and 8 wallets, OR 3 fully retouched digital files OR $200 off a bigger collection.  The options are endless!

Are you ready to book? Press the Easy Button below to pay your $249 – we will contact you right away to schedule (don’t worry, we are pretty flexible and offer evenings and weekends!) Simple, easy, priceless.

Adventure Begins With You {Marietta Ohio Portrait Photographer}

I had a bit of a revelation this week. It was about connection and how it’s the one thing most of us want more of but it can be so elusive some days!

Finding time to carve out space for the day to day tasks can seem like a comedy routine at my house. It goes something like this: I found time to bathe the dog but now I am behind on laundry. The yardwork is finally caught up, but now the house is a mess and someone should definitely go to the grocery store! I bet you can relate. Do you sometimes want to scream, “Stop the bus! I want off! All I really want is some time with the people I love and some connection!”

The best portrait sessions have opportunities for connection. I think most of my clients are hoping for that spark of connection when they book with me. It is always my goal and I am pretty good at making it happen, but I have noticed for some sessions it is easier than others. I think I may have figured out the key, ADVENTURE! (I will come back to this, I promise). Stay with me here!

Let’s say you muster up the courage for a portrait session. You get outfits for everyone, fresh haircuts and you pray. You time naps for that perfect mood or if you have older kids you schedule around band practice, vacation and work. You bribe with ice cream and hope everyone looks at the camera at the same time with a pleasant look on their face. If everyone looks mostly happy you will consider it a win. Not much connection, right?

What if the trip to the local ice cream shop WAS the Portrait Session? What if instead of planning a portrait session, we planned a Family Adventure where connection and smiles occur naturally. What if I told you that we could create a portrait session where YOU get to be present with your family and everyone has a blast?

Want to know a secret? My clients who plan a more adventurous session with me have the most fun, have more authentic smiles and have great memories of their sessions. The amazing artwork on their walls is just the cherry on top!

Introducing – Family Adventure Portrait Sessions!

What does a Family Adventure Portrait Session look like? Well that depends on your family. Maybe it’s a trip around the farm in an ATV to a remote spot, where we have a campfire and make s’mores then star gaze. Maybe we start off with ice cream cones, head to an arcade for some healthy competition and then finish the evening with a walk along the river? What if I were there to capture all that connection and sweetness? This is exactly the type of session I am talking about.

This type of session is perfect for families with small children and babies as well as older childeren and teens. In fact it works great for extended families as well.

Family Adventure sessions will sell for $299 beginning September 1st and it will still be a bargain. But I want the summer to prove my theory and have some more great images to share when I launch this session in full September 1st.

I have 10 7 of these Family Adventure Sessions available this summer. One in June, five in July and four in August. Your session doesn’t have to happen right away, we just need to get you on the books this week to take advantage of this offer. Right now, you can be one of my 10 6  families for just a session fee of $99.  In exchange for this low session price, you will agree to pick at least 5 images from your session that I can share on social media or in marketing materials.

If you want to be one of my ten lucky families – just click this EASY button to pay your $99 Session fee and start planning our Adventure.

Maybe you hate buttons (who hates buttons?) You can text me at 304-482-5105. Once you pay your $99 session fee, I will send you the Family Adventure Guide with just seven questions to get us started. When I have your questionnaire in hand, I will contact you to get started planning your portrait Family Adventure Session.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Andi

PS My gal Murray Stewart Jones has her music studio, Jonesbeat Studios up and running – she is accepting students of all ages on voice, piano, drums, guitar and bass! Check her out!

Family Portraits Made Easy – Marietta, Ohio Parkersburg, WV Portrait Photographer

Three kiddos and two busy careers? Sometimes I try to sit and imagine what it must be like to juggle that full of a schedule. You wake up and have three to four people to feed plus yourself . Maybe start a load of laundry? Think about dinner, make the bed, pack a lunch, find missing socks then scoot everyone out the door in a timely fashion. I bet once you hit the door at the office things don’t get much better. And now you are working and still juggling family stuff! How do people even manage to think about scheduling portraits in the middle of a normal day?

Let’s say you managed to briefly consider the possibility of scheduling portraits. The barrage of questions that follow might go something like this:

What will I wear? What will they wear? OMG my husband. What will my husband wear? Screw this, no. No portraits. But I want portraits. I want mementos of how sweet and little they were. I need those curls in a photo. Wait a minute, the baby is kinda going through a jerk stage. What if the photographer doesn’t like jerk babies? What if she can’t get a good photo of him? What if he is just a blur because he never slows down? What if my husband ….let him try……not happening. Nope. Not doing it. Oh my God is that pee on the floor? Did I pay the cable bill? Wait, did I figure out what to wear? What if I hate the photos? What if my eye does that thing?

Holy crap y’all? How does anyone even ever manage to schedule a session? If you have never worked with us, or it’s been awhile, you may not know how we help you every step of the way. Making that first contact is the hard part, but honestly, we make that easy too.  We help pick out and coordinate clothes (heck we can even shop for you!) We don’t mind if your husband wears his ball cap, his favorite shirt or tells us corny jokes. We don’t mind if you message us 27 times because you are obsessed with the perfect shade of Morrocan blue. We also don’t mind if you just show up and say, “Do your thing photographer lady!”

We’ve got you. We will handle all the little details so you can relax and enjoy yourself. You will be cared for like a cherished friend.  You will love your portraits. That is a promise.  And yes, we love jerk babies. Because we know if you wait five minutes or impersonate an elephant, they will be back to adorable little pile of curls and chub in no time! And when you arrive at the studio and put yourself in our care we know that sometimes it wasn’t easy for you to get here! Thank you!

Now this family below – they made it look easy. Their baby was NOT going through a jerk phase – just a super cute one. Honestly, I think every single one of them is going through a cute stage. Mama opted for the luxurious treat of hair and make-up so she arrived before hubby and had time to relax while we created a look for her that she loved! We like to keep it light and natural for family portraits. The Mister arrived with the kiddos just as Mama was finishing in the make-up chair. Having had a few hours to herself to recharge she was refreshed and excited to see her crew arrive. In just a few minutes we were clicking away, giggling and capturing not just photos of the this sweet family but the spirit of the family too! We built in time to relax, enjoy and really have fun as a family. Great photos? That was just a bonus.

Creeking Sessions Are Back – Marietta, Ohio Portrait Photography

Hot summer days in Marietta, Ohio and the surrounding areas of Parkersburg, West Virginia mean searching for that perfect place to cool off in the shade. Sometimes it can also mean finding that perfect place for portraits that encourages fun, natural expressions, exploration and tons of giggling! Creeking Sessions have become a summer tradition for many Roberts Family Photography Clients.

Summer Creeking Portrait Sessions were inspired by one of my favorite childhood memories. As the end of the school year approached I would start counting down the days until I left for Girl Scout Camp at Camp Wakatomika with my best friend, Lea. We joyfully participated in all kinds of fun stuff at camp, singing, campfires, midnight fairy walks and arts and crafts. One of my most treasured memories was what the counselors called creeking. Essentially we would hike down to the creek that ran through the bottom of the camp and hike (or tromp) through it. We would splash, laugh, look under rocks and enjoy a couple hours exploring and staying cool. I remember begging for more time in the creek!

It has been my experience that most kids cannot resist water. They also can’t help smiling when playing in water. This is the perfect storm for a memorable portrait session full of natural smiles and expressions. Most families that participate in our creeking sessions say their kids talk about portraits for days because they had so much fun!

Check out this fun session from last summer that featured a couple of my favorite pals and an appearance by my favorite mermaid! I cannot tell you how much fun we had looking under rocks, catching things with our nets and throwing rocks to create huge ker-plunks!

Are you looking for a way to get great portraits of your kids AND create some of the best memories of the summer? Creeking Sessions are normally $299 and include 90 minutes of smiles, laughter, splashes and portraits. If you book by June 14th – your Creeking Session will be $199! Your session can be customized to include family portraits, a beloved family pet or a gaggle of cousins! Contact us today to reserve your spot!

Farm Newborn {Violet}

Lovely little Violet. Maybe you remember the maternity session where Violet’s family was patiently awaiting her arrival. Violet was welcomed in a wonderful home birth. One moment they were a family of three, the next moment they were four.  What a lucky little girl to be born into such an amazing family. Her big sister Raven seems smitten with her. Her dad spent much of the session encouraging me to embark on my own journey to parenthood. (Yeah, I totally love him.) Mama just looked kind of blissed out and totally in love with little Violet. (She was probably delirious from lack of sleep!)

I love this family, this farm, this Violet.

Hyland {Class of 2013}

Do you know Hyland? If you do happen to be lucky enough to know him, then you already know that he’s funny, talented, outgoing and he plays the drums. You might not know he is also into Kung Fu, snowboarding and sky-diving.  He’s also really nice.

When we were designing his senior portrait session he knew that he wanted to be outdoors, playing music and having fun. We settled on a family farm out in Tuppers Plains, drug out his entire drum kit and I was treated to a private concert in the woods. Hyland was super fun to work with and his portrait session has to be one of my favorites….I have a soft spot for drummers…..

Hyland chose a Walkabout Senior Portrait Session. It was a great fit for him and may be the perfect fit for you! If you are interested in this type of Senior Portrait Session go here>

Beautiful Maddie came in from Columbus to have her senior portraits taken by Roberts Family Photography.  I was important to her that she have a senior portrait experience that stood out and was designed just for her. She is a city girl at heart, who has a flair for fashion and comes from a family of four girls.  Maddie chose a Walkabout Plus Senior Portrait Session so we spent time in the studio and walking about, looking for interesting texture, great lighting and the perfect spot to showcase her smile.  If you are interested in a Walkabout Senior Portrait Session go here>
